IFL Conference Call

Ryan Schultz, IFL Lightweight champion and Ryan McGivern, IFL Middleweight champion participated in a conference call to promote the next big IFL event on May 16 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Conn.

Schultz won the IFL Lightweight title on Dec. 29 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Conn., knocking out previously unbeaten Chris Horodecki to take the title. He successfully defended his belt with a win over John Gunderson on Feb. 29 in Las Vegas and will battle Deividas Taurosevicius of Lithuania on May 16. McGivern took the Middleweight belt from Matt Horwich via unanimous decision on Feb. 29 and will battle Dan Miller of Sparta, N.J., for the title on May 16.

Dewees took home the main event win after battling Heavyweight champion Richard Blake. FNU's Rich Bergeron appeared telephonically in a proceeding that set the stage for what might be the grand finale of the Xyience vs. Bergeron $25 million lawsuit. One of the names behind the successful Untamed Circuit in Massachusetts, Littlefield has arranged some heavy duty, absolutely amazing matchups throughout the state. We have made it a point to interview promoters, trainers and coaches, amateur and professional fighters, sponsors, and even other reporters covering the same beat we do. We are entering into an exciting age in the fight game with MMA and Boxing now in a head-to-head battle for market share and popularity among fans. Not only are news outlets like us starting to cover both sports, but promoters and managers from boxing are making the crossover, too. Even some boxers themselves are making the transition to MMA. One of our main focuses here will be to try to keep a sharp eye on what the sport of boxing does to keep up with the exponential growth of MMA as more states sanction cage fights and other MMA events.
